Fur Institute updates "Certified Trap List" for 2019
The Fur Institute of Canada announced updates to their list of certified traps this week. The list of approved traps was updated by the Trap Research and Development Committee (TRDC). To meet the needed requirements for AIHTS trap certification, trap manufacturers must test any trapping device they intend to market for use in Canada. This includes mechanically powered, trigger activated lethal devices, as well as live capture foot-hold and cage traps.
Activists flip-flop on local trappers, Miss NH Pageant
For decades, the New Hampshire Trapper’s Association has generously donated a brand new fur coat each year to the winner of the Miss NH Scholarship Program. While this makes the NH pageant unique, it also makes the program an easy target for activists who aren’t content with just “agreeing to disagree”.

New Hampshire lawmakers seek protections for coyotes
House Bill 442 would place a closed section on the current “year-round” coyote hunting season. The bill seeks to close hunting of coyotes from April 1 through August 31, to coincide with what the bill states are “pup rearing” months. The bill comes at a time when the topic of predator management is immensely polarized across much of North America.
